Active Against COVID-19

Registration is closed for this event

Active Against COVID is a fundraiser created as a way for Cornell athletes to stay active and support those in Tompkins County who have been impacted by COVID-19.

A message from the founders of Active Against COVID-19:

Our team, like so many others, is working to come to terms with the loss of a season that was just getting started. However, in the face of these unprecedented circumstances, our disappointment pales in comparison to the hardships that individuals everywhere are now dealing with.

The goal of Active Against COVID is to support United Way of Tompkins County while giving our workouts meaning again. We hope that even though we are apart, our community can come together to help give back. Donations through United Way of Tompkins County will support agencies addressing unforeseen challenges in the areas of health care, food security, and financial stability as a result of COVID- 19. After registering to run, athletes can make personal or team fundraising pages to share with family and friends and help spread the word!

The fundraiser will lead up to a virtual 10k day during the week of Sunday, May 17th.  May 17th is of particular significance for our own team as it would have been the Women’s Rowing Ivy League Championship, a day we have been training for all year. On this day, participants can choose to complete a 10k in the form of their choice: erg, run, bike, swim, walk, etc.

The week of May 17th will be a celebration of the money raised to support those struggling in Tompkins County right now, as well as the hard work, practices, lifts, and teamwork that athletes have put into their respective sports. We hope that you and your teammates will join us and help take action against COVID.

Please join us in being active against COVID!

Sincerely,
Gabby Gabel ‘22, Mary Kate Henderson ‘22, and Annie Bryson ‘22
