The Ithaca College Student United Way (IC SUW) is a student-led initiative dedicated to community-wide charitable and volunteer efforts. IC SUW raises funds to award to local nonprofits through a competitive grant process. IC SUW acts as a link between the campus community and local organizations. IC SUW provides students with experience in the nonprofit sector and grant writing, as well as opportunities to engage with the local community and encourage youth empowerment.

IC Student United Way Grants
In November 2013, IC SUW students awarded $3,500 to three nonprofits serving Tompkins County. IC SUW evaluates proposals using community assessment data and allocates funds to have the greatest impact.

United Way Youth Venture
United Way Youth Venture is a new program that supports young people in designing and implementing social ventures at Dryden High School and Lehman Alternative Community School. IC SUW supports United Way Youth Venture by mentoring high school students as they develop and launch social ventures and by providing seed money to support these ventures.
The annual Spring Family Carnival is IC SUW’s biggest fundraiser. In 2012 the event raised $1,500!
