Hunger and Food Security Grant Funds Awarded

United Way of Tompkins County has recently awarded $21,675 to six programs through the Hunger and Food Security Fund. The six grants were for the following programs:

Catholic Charities of Tompkins/Tioga Counties- $6,000 to provide Personal Care Products at area food pantries and the Samaritan Center

Enfield Community Council: $2,700 for the Enfield School Age Program for an after-school healthy fresh fruit and vegetable snack program

Loaves and Fishes of Tompkins County- $4,475 for the Free Meal Program providing congregate meals 5 days a week

Southside Community Center- $3,000 for the Hot Food Program, an after-school dinner program providing a hot meal 5 days a week

The Mental Health Association in Tompkins County- $500 for the Starlight Peer Advocacy (drop-in) Center for Empowerment (SPACE) which hosts an annual Thanksgiving meal serving 150 people

Village at Ithaca- $5,000 for the Ithaca Community Harvest, a collaborative program with area schools and local farms (includes the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program at BJM School, the Meal Program at GIAC, and job training on farms)
